Red Mountain wine country is just a dot on the map lying somewhere between Prosser and Richland off I-82. Nevertheless, what a dot it is.

Red Mountain is the home to some of the state's best-known vineyards including Ciel du Cheval, Klipsun, Hedges, Kiona, Artz, Red Mountain (RMV), and Tapteil. The "terroir" draws top-notch wineries that go no further than their back yard for the best fruit.

You will discover the distinctiveness of each tasting room during your tour. The uniqueness of Hedges Chateau, the family quality of the Taptiel and Hightower wineries, the Tuscan-style architecture of Terra Blanca, and the river camp charm of Oakwood Winery highlight the diversity. Budget at least two days to visit the wineries with regular tasting room hours (weekends usually). Perhaps one day, sooner rather than later, there will be wealth of hotels and restaurants to experience. However, in the near term, be prepared to pack a lunch and stay at a hotel in nearby Richland or Prosser.
