Forest Grove – Gaston WineTrail
Often referred to as the Sip 47 wine tour, member wineries of the Forest Grove – Gaston WineTrail dot the landscape along Highway 47 that connects these towns. Within an hour’s drive from downtown Portland, the Forest Grove - Gaston WineTrail is an easy romp for day trippers. WineTrail trekkers particularly like the fact that most of these wineries are surrounded by their own vineyards. From Elk Cove to Tualatin Estate Vineyards wine tourists can swirl, sniff, taste, and spit with rows of wine grapes in the background. There is one big exception however – SakéOne. Their saké wines depend upon high grade rice for production, and you won’t find rice paddies in Oregon. But you will find friendly tasting staff throughout this northern part of the Willamette Valley eager to pour you a sample of Oregon’s best.
